Exercise Treadmill Electrocardiogram (Stress Test):
 

What is it for?

  • Why do a stress test with an electrocardiogram?

  • The stress test permits an evaluation of a person’s physical capacity and blood pressure response to exercise.

  • The electrocardiogram is a time-honored and generally valid means of investigating the possibility of significant coronary artery narrowing or blockage.

  • As well, the electrocardiogram may identify arrhythmias on exercise (palpitations).
